Manukan Island Resort

LOCATION: Manukan Island Resort, operated by Sutera Sanctuary Lodges, is located on Pulau Manukan in Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park. Access is from the jetty at Sabah Port Authority in downtown Kota Kinabalu, a few minutes away from Hyatt Regency Kinabalu. Boat journey takes about 20 minutes to the island. The resort offers 4 different types of accommodation, namely Hilltop Lodge 1-storey bungalow (4 units), Hilltop Lodge split-level (6 units), Beach Lodge 1-storey bungalow (4 units) and Beach Lodge split-level (6 units). Obviously, the 1-storey bungalows are significantly bigger, offering 2 bedrooms, dining and living areas. All units are equipped with air-conditioner, attached bathroom and TV. There is only one restaurant in the resort offering regular meal selections. It seemed to be frequented by both resort patrons as well as day-trippers to Pulau Manukan. There is also a water sports centre which will take care of your outdoor activity needs such as snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, etc. The rooms here do come at a premium, perhaps due to the seclusion it offers. Not to mention the units are generally well-appointed with plush finishes and modern amenities. The bungalow-type Hill Lodge costs RM380 per night, split-level Hill Lodge (RM320 per night), bungalow-type Beach Lodge (RM380 per night) and split-level Beach Lodge (RM320 per night).
